Girls' Generation Top Japan's Oricon Charts

Girls Generation, the nine-member Korean pop group, are making history.

On Tuesday they became the second foreign female group to top Japan's Oricon weekly charts, similar to the Billboard charts in the U.S., with their second Japanese single "Gee."

The first foreign female group to conquer the Japanese charts was Britain's The Nolans in 1980.

The Korean girls are gaining popularity in Taiwan as well. Their first solo concert there attracted over 24,000 fans last week, with all tickets sold out.
